Scotland’s Best Beaches

Scotland’s Best Beaches

When you think of Scotland, a beach holiday might not be the first thought that comes to mind. Last year, however, the Travellers Choice Awards named the top 25 beaches in the UK and many Scottish beaches made it into the final list, compiled by TripAdvisor. Here are the top three – put them on your bucket list!

Nairn: Located on the coast of the Moray Firth, just east of Inverness, Nairn beach boasts one of the best climates in the country, bordered by sand-dunes and grassy links and a promenade. Nairn is a paradise for any wildlife enthusiast as well, as the area is home to its own local school of dolphins which sometimes pops by to say hello. If the dolphins don’t visit, however, you can still enjoy a spectacular view across the Moray Firth to the Black Isle.

Luskentyre: Situated on the west coast of South Harris, Luskentyre is one of the largest beaches in the country. It’s famous for its miles of white sands and stunning green-blue waters, making it look like it was stolen from a Pacific island. South Harris recently found fame when it was voted (again by the Travellers Choice Awards) as the best island in Europe and the fifth best in the world. Have a look at the photo at the top of the page and it’s not hard to see why! Unspoilt and tranquil, this beach is a haven.

Camusdarach: The classic white sands of Camusdarach beach make it a popular choice for film crews as well as visitors. Located between Arisaig and Morar in the Highlands, it’s part of the Silver Sands of Morar, a collection of white-sand beaches which llitter the local coastline. With a spectacular view to the jagged mountain of Cuillin on the Isle of Skye, this beach is truly breathtaking and well-worth a visit!
