Scotland is Sleigh’s home and somewhere we’re fiercely proud of. So, when we were asked to create a trip for clients who wanted to experience traditional Scotland but in an elevated and unique style, our eyes and imaginations lit up. Our itinerary naturally took them to Scotland’s highlights; the rugged peaks of the Isle of Skye, the fabled waters of Loch Lomond, the oppressively enchanting Glencoe, as well as our proud capital Edinburgh but all in a carefully curated fashion which reflected their desire to connect with locals and immerse themselves in Scottish food, music, and history.
Their touring outside of Edinburgh started with a foraging and cocktail blending session led by conservationist turned distillers, discovering treasures found along the salt-frosted beaches and moss-carpeted forests of East Lothian, and ended with a spectacular private falconry display on a boat off the south-west coast. They met with local artisan weavers, beekeepers, and fishermen, connecting to the land in a very physical sense, while also gaining a better understanding of Scottish conservation and the role the tourism industry plays in keeping the ‘old’ Scotland alive.
For the client, the highlight of the trip was a helicopter tour of the rugged northern highlands and the Isle of Skye. From their airborne vantage point, they took in some of the country’s most recognisable landscapes – the Three Sisters of Glencoe, Loch Ness, The Glenfinnan Viaduct, Skye’s Fairy Pools, and the Old Man of Storr – before touching down on the Island for a locally sourced and expertly prepared lunch at the Michelin recommended Three Chimneys.
For our team, there were extensive behind-the-scenes hours spent communicating with our suppliers, rearranging schedules to accommodate weather and tides, and liaising with local musicians for their favourite tunes to be played as a live music accompaniment during a private dinner in Glasgow. This was all part of the service, which means trusting us to create, execute, and deliver your trip will ensure seamless logistics and those ‘spine-tingle’ moments.
The clients departed Scotland not only with cherished memories but also a greater appreciation for the landscape and the people and history which have shaped the country’s culture.
